A professional journal for professionals!
Facta Universitatis, series: Mechanical Engineering (FU Mech Eng) is an open access peer-reviewed international journal published by the University of Niš (Republic of Serbia). High quality, refereed papers are published three times a year. Papers reporting original theoretical and/or practice oriented research or extended versions of the already published conference papers are all welcome. The scope of the journal covers the whole spectrum of Mechanical Engineering. Papers for publication are selected through peer reviewing to ensure originality, relevance, and readability. In doing that, the objective is not only to keep the high quality of published papers, but also to provide a timely, thorough and balanced review process.

Journal Homepage Image Aims and Scope: The principal aim of the journal is to bring together the latest research and development in various fields of Mechanical Engineering. We would like to higlight that papers should refer to Focus and Scope, but they are not limited to. Rapid publication: Online submission system, electronic peer review and production make the process of publishing your article very simple and efficient. Usually, it takes less than 2 months from the moment of your submission to a response generated by the reviewing system. If your paper is accepted, we will try to publish it in the upcoming issue.
If the authors provide a previously published conference submission, Editors will check the submission to determine whether there has been sufficient new material added to warrant publication in the Journal. The FU Mech Eng guidelines require such submissions to contain a significant amount of new material, that is, material that has not been published elsewhere. New results are not required; however, the submission should contain expansions of key ideas, examples, elaborations, etc. of the conference submission. The paper submitted to the journal should differ from the previously published material by at least 40 percent. Research articles are usually up to 12 pages long. However, longer articles may be accepted with appropriate reasoning. Authors are requested to follow the FU Mech Eng guidelines in preparing their manuscripts.
Focus and Scope Facta Universitatis, series Mechanical Engineeringis a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes theoretical and practice oriented papers, covering the whole spectrum of Mechanical Engineering: Material Engineering Structural Design and Optimization Structural Analysis Production Engineering Solid Mechanics Dynamics and Vibration Automation and Control Systems Thermal and Fluids Engineering Transport and Logistics Technology Management and Forecasting Alternative Technology Modern multidisciplinary fields: Mechatronics Coupled-Field Problems Active/Adaptive Structures MBS-FEM Coupling Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering. The list is not exhaustive but rather illustrative demonstrating the broad range of Mechanical Engineering covered by the journal.
Peer Review Process The submitted papers are subject to a peer review process in order to select for publishing the articles meeting the high standards of this journal on mechanical engineering. The reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to the authors, nor are the authors' identities disclosed to the reviewers. When a manuscript is submitted to Facta Univeristatis, Series: Mechanical Engineering, it undergoes an initial prescreening by the Editorial Board in order to determine whether or not the paper fits the scope of the journal. If the Editorial Board finds the manuscript meets the journal’s minimum standards for publication, the paper then undergoes the reviewing process. In the main reviewing phase, the assigned Section Editor sends the received papers, without the name and affiliation of the authors, to two experts in the field, by using the on-line web management system. The electronic evaluation form used by reviewers contains a checklist in order to help referees to cover all aspects that can decide the publication. In the final section of the evaluation form, the reviewers must include observations and suggestions for improvement that are sent to the authors, without the names of the reviewers. All the reviewers of a paper remain anonymous to the authors and act independently before, during and after the evaluation process. They have different affiliation, are usually located in different countries, and they are not aware of each other’s identities. If the decisions of the two reviewers are not the same (accept/reject), the paper is sent to a third reviewer. The final decision for publication is done by the Editor-in-chief based on the scrutiny of reviewers and the scope of the journal. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the quality and selection of manuscripts chosen to be published, and the authors are always responsible for the content of each article.
